Gary Jack steps down as Callisburg football coach

Callisburg will be looking for a new head football coach and athletic director.

Callisburg head football coach Gary Jack has decided to step down after three seasons in charge of the Wildcats program, KXII-TV first reported over the weekend.

Jack told Cooke County SportsTalk via text message Monday that he is not leaving yet, but he just asked to step down and be put in a different position and role.

"I was just ready to take a break from the grind of this position," he said.

Coach Jack has been coaching for 27 years, 20 of those years as the head coach at various schools. He came to Callisburg after serving as the HFC and AD at Clarendon.

He says he took the job at Callisburg with a goal of turning the program around, but made the call to step down after going 3-27 in those 3 seasons.
